Ruth A. KarmazonMeet the Director and Acupuncturist
Ruth A. Karmazon, C.A., M.S.

Ruth is licensed to practice acupuncture in both New York and New Jersey. She holds a Masters of Science degree in Acupuncture from New York's Classical Acupuncture school, The Swedish Institute, and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre & Dance, from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Ruth's family practice focuses on treating individuals while encompassing all the facets of Chinese Medicine including: acupuncture, herbal medicine, diet & nutrition, movement and lifestyle adaptation. Ruth works easily with children and adults and her purpose is to provide "healthcare that cares" to all members of our communities. Her numerous continuing education credits in pediatrics, infertility, gastrointestinal distress, and depression shape her expertise and enrich the quality of care given at the center. Ruth is also currently enrolled in the Chinese Herbal Medicine Program at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine to become an herbalist so that she can bring the full benefits of Chinese Medicine to her patients.

Ruth began studying aboriginal medicine and traditions in 1988. By learning ancient aboriginal techniques of survival, she not only learned to live entirely off of the land, she learned the unparalleled power of herbal medicine. She has a background in herbal medicine from several traditions: Native American, Chinese, Wise Woman and European/Western. Her experience in these ancient traditions combined with ill health led Ruth to seek out the study of Chinese Medicine.

Ruth has a background as a dancer, competitive runner and rock climber. She is an avid rock and ice climber, hiker and cyclist. She practices yoga and is cultivating her Tai Chi Quan and Qi Gong practices. She enjoys developing workshops around movement and medicine.

Nutrition
Ruth currently provides Dietary Therapy and nutrition to her patient base. She utilizes the works of Henry C. Lu who authored Chinese Natural Cures and Paul Pitchford's book, Healing with Whole Foods: Asian Traditions on Modern Medicine.

Ruth offers specific nutritional guidance based on the patient's Chinese Medical Diagnosis as well as their doctor's assessment. This approach is balanced and thorough resulting in the root problem being addressed. Her philosophy incorporates the knowledge that food is the most powerful medicine we have. If we eat according to our our body's needs, we assist in our own healing process and balance prevails.

Ruth enjoys reaching out to the community via speaking engagements, charity events, conducting workshops, and providing educational movies and instruction. If you would like her to speak with your favorite group or organization, please let her know.

Brynn Bennett, Massage Therapist and Reflexology Practitioner
Brynn has been a devoted massage therapist for 25 years since graduating from the Florida Institute of Natural Health/ Florida School of Massage where she was licensed and certified in 1983. With her vast experience working with a variety of stress induced illnesses and sports injuries, she has developed what she refers to as, "the perfect combination of therapy to help people reduce their disease by treating the mind and body." Trained in deep tissue massage, connective tissue work, myofascial release, reiki, reflexology, stress reduction and several other modalities, Brynn is able to devise individual sessions for each client with their specific needs in mind. Creating balance in her sessions, Brynn has elevated her massage technique to promote harmony and enhance healing from within. Recently, Brynn has graduated from Centenary College with a BA in psychology. She is now working towards completing her Masters Degree in Biopsychology.

Brynn has a long history of working with a client population that includes people of all backgrounds, from school age children to adults, pregnant women, octogenarians, prepubescent wrestlers, hyperactive five-year olds and professional arena football players. She has been a member of the Karmabridge team since 2006. We look forward to Brynn's upcoming workshops in stress reduction and couples massage at the center.

In addition to bodywork, Brynn also studies tissue memory and is working toward a degree in Biological Psychology. By combining Massage Therapy with other techniques, Brynn is able to work on a deeper, intuitive level touching the physical, spiritual, emotional and mental aspects of her clients. As an outgrowth of her work in combining these theories, Brynn plans to develop a massage program which integrates the body-mind paradigm and tissue memory. This will directly deal with the body's "issues and tissues." Her work is creating new inroads in the field, enabling massage therapists to work with prominent disorders within our children and our communities at large.

Brynn lives locally with her two children and volunteers with several nonprofit organizations and special needs children. In continuing to develop her massage practice while raising people's awareness, Brynn hopes to communicate, "that by utilizing massage in their lifetime, the quality of people's lives will vastly improve on many levels." By combining the skills that she has acquired over her career as a massage therapist and furthering her education in psychology, her ultimate goal is to empower people with the tools to transform stress and traumatic events into positive growth experiences that will, in turn, decrease disease and injury and enable the body to become balanced and healthy again."

Kevin Truszkowski, Massage Therapist

When Kevin was four years old, he was learning to ride his bicycle without training wheels. As the learning process goes, he fell quite often. His sister told him to rub the hurt areas until the pain went away. The rest is history!

Building on his childhood lesson, Kevin attended massage school at Health Options Institute in January of 2001. He completed the five hundered hour course in 2002 but stayed at school as an instructor until 2005. To date, Kevin has performed over seven thousand hours of massage therapy.

Kevin's goal for a massage therapy session is for his patients to become as pain free as possible. During a massage therapy session with Kevin, you can expect to learn why you feel like you do, and what you can do about it on your own. You will also have your posture assessed and your range of motion may be checked for troubled areas. Your massage will consist of gentle but effective massage modalities. After the massage, you will feel that you have more range of motion and fewer aches and pains. Some people say that they feel lighter, and others who have had pain for over thirty years say that their aches and pains have finally been addressed and they are now feeling great. Kevin will strive to make you feel this way too.
